Job Summary
GoodPower seeks a Director, Development Operations & Systems to streamline and implement the infrastructure behind a rapidly growing, multi-entity fundraising operation. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, this role owns the systems, data, and processes that allow the development team and executive leadership to raise, track, and steward revenue at scale—with our Salesforce CRM as the backbone.
This newly created position is a builder’s role, not a maintenance one. The Director will inherit a CRM that requires substantial cleanup and reconstruction, a moves management practice that needs better functionality, consistency, and automation, and a growing portfolio of vended services contracts that requires accurate and timely invoicing and compliance tracking. Their charge is to turn all three into systems that the team will use consistently—supported by documentation, training, and standards that outlast any one staffing configuration. Success in the first year looks like a clean, trusted Salesforce instance; a live, adopted moves management workflow; and robust dashboards for fundraising leadership to operate with confidence from real-time data.
The Director manages the Senior Development Manager, whose own responsibilities are expanding in parallel toward revenue reconciliation and financial operations leadership, alongside Salesforce and broader system architecture support and execution. Both roles are complementary, with the Director leading building and implementation of the systems, and the Senior Manager deepening the data discipline that runs through them.
Key Responsibilities
Salesforce CRM Architecture and Data Integrity
In partnership with the Senior Director of Development, execution support of the Senior Development Manager and contracted Data Entry support, and in coordination with the organization’s Digital & Data team.
- Lead a comprehensive assessment, cleanup, and rebuild (where needed) of GoodPower’s Salesforce instance including: data hygiene, deduplication, object, field and layout architecture, record types, permissions, and reporting structures across affiliated entities.
- Establish Salesforce as the single source of truth for donor records, pipeline management, and revenue forecasting—aiming for the adoption and implementation by fundraising leadership.
- Design and maintain Salesforce dashboards and reports that give development leadership, the CEO’s Office, and the Finance team real-time visibility into pipeline health, projections, and revenue-to-goal.
- Own Salesforce configuration and its integrations with fundraising, email, and funder research tools; manage implementation partners and consultants as needed.
- Set and enforce data entry standards, naming conventions, and coding practices that keep records accurate, consistent, and reportable across entities.
- Serve as the development team’s primary liaison to IT, data, and technology colleagues on shared systems and integrations.
Moves Management
In service to the team’s frontline fundraisers, with execution support of the entire team.
- Build and operationalize a moves management system in Salesforce and/or Jira—task-based cultivation tracking, stage definitions, next-action accountability, dashboard performance tracking, and recurring portfolio reviews. This role owns making the system/workflow live, adopted by the team, and sustained.
- Partner with the CEO’s Office (Executive Assistant and Managing Director) to execute CEO fundraising coordination: moves management, pipeline expansion, follow-through tracking, and data capture on the organization’s highest-value relationships.
- Work with development leadership on portfolio segmentation, prospect research workflows, and pipeline review cadence.
System and Tech Tool Adoption
In close collaboration with the Senior Development Manager.
- Lead the development team’s adoption of Jira and Confluence—implement the Salesforce Jira connector in collaboration with the Data team, build the project tracking and documentation architecture, and drive the change management required for sustained uptake.
- Serve as an internal change agent for systems adoption, meeting the team’s fundraisers where they are and designing workflows that will be sustainable.
- Ensure alignment with the Senior Development Manager’s development system training and SOP documentation scope of work.
Contracts, Invoicing, and Compliance Systems
With strategic leadership from the Senior Director of Development and close collaboration with the Senior Development Manager.
- Build and maintain a system for tracking business development invoicing, contracting, and compliance across GoodPower’s growing portfolio of vended services agreements.
- Work closely with the Senior Development Director and Senior Development Manager who act as lead contacts for Finance, compliance, and program teams on executing contract lifecycle tracking, invoicing detail, and deliverable compliance.
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 7-10 years of progressively responsible development operations experience, including deep, hands-on Salesforce experience in a fundraising context (Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), or a comparable fundraising implementation).
Demonstrated experience leading a CRM cleanup, migration, or rebuild—taking an underused or compromised instance to a functioning, trusted system of record.
Track record of designing moves management or pipeline systems that fundraisers adopt, including stage design, task workflows, and the change management that makes the system sustainable.
Strong data architecture and reporting skills: report and dashboard building, data hygiene protocols, revenue forecasting, and translating leadership questions into usable views.
Demonstrated experience managing and developing experienced professionals with a coaching orientation.
High level of comfort operating in a fast-growing organization where systems are built rather than inherited, with a bias toward pragmatic solutions.
Preferred:
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and comparable project management and documentation platforms, as well as experience leading team-wide tool adoption.
Working knowledge of nonprofit finance operations—gift processing, revenue reconciliation, contracts, invoicing, and compliance tracking.
Experience supporting fundraising across affiliated 501c(3) and 501c(4) entities, or demonstrated ability to learn entity-specific data, coding, and compliance requirements quickly.
Experience managing consultants, implementation partners, and relationships with vendors.
Experience with managing vended service revenue from contracting to invoicing.
Salesforce Administrator certification.
