Job Summary
The Pennsylvania Field Director will lead and execute a high-impact organizing program centered around economic security, affordability and renewable energy. This role is central to GoodPower’s current 2025-2030 strategic plan, defining the political moment to cement durable power, advance pro-renewable policy and deliver decisive accountability and electoral outcomes in states and geographies of critical importance.
The ideal candidate will have at least six years of organizing experience, with management of at least one statewide campaign required. The candidate is a seasoned organizer, strategic thinker and campaigner with a keen understanding of Pennsylvania’s political landscape, capable of translating clean energy and cost of living issues into local narratives that resonate across voter segments. They will be responsible for building a dynamic volunteer base, managing a high-performing field team and coordinating efforts to recruit, educate and mobilize voters across the state, particularly among the 18-34 demographic.
They will have the ability to shift between electoral and issue-based organizing seamlessly. They will know how to strategically merge both tracks, ensuring they build on one another to deliver lasting impact on clean energy policy and long-term political power.
This role anchors GoodPower’s organizing model — integrating field, digital and narrative power to transform the economics of energy for everyday Pennsylvanians.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Execution
- Anchor Pennsylvania as a proving ground for GoodPower’s integrated field-to-narrative model.
- Use GoodPower’s Strategic Roadmap framework to connect statewide strategy with measurable voter contact, narrative and policy influence outcomes.
- Ensure all campaigns build toward long-term accountability and power retention, not just short-term wins.
- Develop and lead the overall strategy centered on affordability, renewable energy and cost of living issues in Pennsylvania, ensuring all efforts are aligned with broader organizational goals and responsive to the state’s evolving political landscape.
- Manage the planning and execution of state-level programs that integrate grassroots organizing, voter engagement and issue advocacy to build long-term power on the ground.
- Hire, train and supervise a high-performing team of regional directors and field organizers, fostering a results-driven culture rooted in collaboration, accountability and impact.
- Collaborate closely with the national Campaigns Department across data, digital, policy and communications to deliver integrated and effective programming.
Volunteer Leadership & Youth Organizing
- Design and implement a strategic volunteer leadership program that empowers young people across Pennsylvania to take on meaningful organizing roles in their communities.
- Oversee the development and management of a dynamic and high-performing volunteer base, ensuring alignment with organizational frameworks such as the Ladder of Engagement and Snowflake model.
- Ensure volunteer leaders are equipped with the training, tools and mentorship needed to lead canvassing, advocacy, voter outreach and public education efforts across the state.
- Cultivate a culture of sustained youth engagement, leadership development and long-term power building that drives renewable energy and political impact.
- Develop volunteer leadership pathways that turn early civic engagement into ongoing political participation across cycles.
- Ensure integration with GoodPower’s national training and analytics teams to measure leadership growth, engagement, and turnout effects.
Clean Energy Advocacy
- Lead the development and execution of state-level renewable energy advocacy campaigns that advance solar, battery storage, and renewable energy infrastructure.
- Oversee engagement strategies that mobilize local communities in support of pro-renewable policies and opposition to fossil fuel-backed legislation.
- Build relationships with community partners, policy advocates and clean energy stakeholders to ensure local priorities are reflected in campaign goals and outcomes.
- Position youth voices as powerful advocates in local and state-level energy permitting, siting and workforce development conversations.
- Drive siting and permitting campaigns that translate renewable investment into visible community benefit and equip young leaders as credible messengers on affordability, energy access and workforce development.
Electoral & Field Organizing
- Lead a comprehensive electoral strategy that engages and mobilizes young voters in support of pro-renewable energy candidates and ballot initiatives.
- Oversee all aspects of field operations related to voter registration, turnout and education in key geographies.
- Through narrative-driven voter contact, ensure affordability and renewable energy remain defining issues through the 2026 cycle and beyond.
- Coordinate rapid response and layered field strategies that adapt to emerging political dynamics and ensure maximum impact at the ballot box.
- Deploy field programs that connect economic and energy issues directly to vote choice and accountability metrics.
- Collaborate with the National Field Director to model field metrics and adaptive rapid response tied to state and national KPIs.
Program Management & Team Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight of all field staff and ensure strong systems are in place for performance management, goal setting and reporting.
- Build a high-functioning team culture rooted in trust, purpose and continuous improvement.
- Model and uphold GoodPower’s performance culture: clarity, adaptability and precision in execution.
Manage budgets, timelines and deliverables with precision, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet program goals.
Drive coordination across departments and ensure real-time data is used to evaluate and refine organizing strategies.
Ensure constant feedback loops between field data, digital analytics and messaging to optimize performance.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a disciplined, experienced field strategist who understands how to connect grassroots energy to measurable political and policy outcomes — grounded in economic fairness, renewable energy advocacy, and youth-led participation.
- Based in Pennsylvania and deeply familiar with the state’s political geography and legislative dynamics.
- 6+ years of experience in electoral and/or issue organizing, with management of at least one statewide grassroots campaign required.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale voter engagement, volunteer leadership or electoral field programs.
- Keen understanding of Pennsylvania elections, voter demographics and the strategic landscape in key swing districts.
- Experience managing high-performing teams in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
- Values precision, iteration, and accountability; thrives in a culture that measures impact and adjusts in real time.
- Strong commitment to renewable energy and building youth and local power.
- Proficiency in VAN, EveryAction or similar organizing data platforms; ability to develop and interpret data to inform strategy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to build coalitions across diverse constituencies.
- Committed to building a state-level laboratory for scalable, test-and-learn field strategy within GoodPower’s national architecture.
Compensation
- Annual salary range: $75,000-90,000, commensurate with experience
